Joe is Trifacta's Chief Executive Officer and a Professor of Computer Science at Berkeley. His career has focused on data-centric systems and the way they drive computing. In 2010, Fortune Magazine included him in their list of 50 smartest people in technology, and MIT Technology Review magazine included his Bloom language for cloud computing on their TR10 list of the 10 technologies "most likely to change our world".
As Chief Experience Officer, Jeff guides the design of Trifacta's user interface. Jeff is also an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Stanford University, where he directs the Stanford Visualization Group. The data visualization tools developed by his lab (including Protovis & D3.js) are used by thousands of data enthusiasts around the world. In 2009, Jeff was named to MIT Technology Review's list of "Top Innovators under 35".
Sean is Trifacta's Chief Technical Officer and leads Trifacta's engineering efforts. Prior to Trifacta, Sean was a Ph.D. student at Stanford University, where his research focused on new interactive tools for data manipulation, including Data Wrangler. Sean has a passion for helping people work with data through new user interfaces for database systems—a passion informed by his own experience as a professional data analyst.
Maneesh Agrawala is an Associate Professor in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at Berkeley, where he works on visualization, computer graphics and human computer interaction. He is the recipient of many awards for his research, including a 2009 MacArthur Foundation Fellowship (aka "the Genius grant").
Michael Bernstein is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Stanford. He pursues research at the intersection of human-computer interaction and social computing. He studies how to connect and coordinate large groups of people online to create systems that are powered by collective intelligence.
Mike Bostock designs interactive graphics for The New York Times. He is also the author of D3.js, a popular open-source library for visualizing data using web standards. Prior to The New York Times, Mike was a visualization scientist for Square and a computer science PhD student at Stanford University. Mike received the BSE degree in computer science in 2000 from Princeton University.
Carlos Guestrin is a Professor of Computer Science & Engineering at the University of Washington. A world-recognized leader in the field of Machine Learning, Carlos was named one of the 2008 "Brilliant 10" by Popular Science Magazine and received the 2009 IJCAI Computers and Thought Award for his contributions to Artificial Intelligence.
Prior to joining Cloudera, Jeff conceived, built, and led the Data team at Facebook. The Data team was responsible for inventing and building powerful data analysis applications on Hadoop. Before he joined Facebook, Jeff worked as a quantitative analyst on Wall Street.
Sam Madden is a Professor of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at MIT. His research interests include databases, distributed computing, and networking. Madden also heads the Intel Science and Technology Center (ISTC) for Big Data. Madden received his Ph.D. from Berkeley in 2003 where he worked on the TinyDB system for data collection from sensor networks.
Tim O'Reilly is the founder and CEO of O'Reilly Media, Inc., thought by many to be the best computer book publisher in the world. Over the years, Tim has built a culture where sustainable innovation is a key tenet of business philosophy. His active engagement with technology communities both drives the company's product development and informs its marketing. Tim graduated from Harvard College in 1975 with a B.A. cum laude in classics.
Dr. DJ Patil is currently a Data Science in Residence at Greylock Partners. He has held a variety of roles in Academia, Industry, and Government. These include, the Chief Scientist, Chief Security Officer and Head of Analytics and Data Products Teams at LinkedIn. He has also held a number of roles at Skype, PayPal, and eBay. He is known for co-coining the term Data Scientist. In 2011 he was ranked #2 in Forbes Data Scientist list, behind Larry Page. In 2012 he and other notable "Gen Fluxers" were featured on the cover of Fast Company.
